People from Guatemala on the road

Thursday, April 15th| 3-4 pm EDT

Catholic Relief Services invites you to join this special online event.

In the past five years, migration from the northern countries of Central America has increased sharply. In February, President Biden released an executive order setting in motion steps to address the underlying causes of migration from the region. As the administration develops a strategy to confront the instability, violence, and economic insecurity that drive migrants from their homes, there are opportunities to learn from past and ongoing development initiatives that address push factors and promote rootedness, or the opportunity and desire to live and thrive in one’s home community.

Please join Catholic Relief Services as we host Emily Mendrala, Deputy Assistant Secretary Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs U.S. Department of State, Yolanda González Cerdeira, Researcher at the Centro ERIC, Radio Progreso, Honduras and Nicole Kast, Head of Programs for Catholic Relief Services in Guatemala, for a discussion on the administration’s steps to address the underlying causes of migration and ongoing work to provide opportunities for vulnerable communities in the region.

Dan Restrepo, Advisor to CRS, will moderate the panel.
